A 12-year-old driver from Harrisonville suffered serious injuries and a 12-year-old occupant from Harrisonville suffered minor injuries at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, in a Johnson County accident.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report the boy was driving a 2020 Kayo Storm ATV east on U.S. 50, east of Northwest 1501 Road and attempted to negotiate a curve but the vehicle began to slide and became airborne. The passenger jumped from the vehicle before it returned to the ground but when the vehicle hit it overturned and landed on the driver.
Neither boy was wearing a seat belt, they were transported by EMS to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
