JCCHS offering free COVID-19 drive-thru testing

Posted

Johnson County Community Health Services is hosting a free, COVID-19 drive-thru testing event from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25 at First Baptist Church, 1302 Maguire St. in Warrensburg. This is a free PCR test for symptomatic individuals.

Due to the high demand for COVID-19 testing, JCCHS is offering this free event to help slow the spread of COVID-19 across the region. Symptomatic individuals must register and schedule an appointment prior to the event.

Visit johnsoncountyhealth.org/covid-testing to register. After registering, each person will be sent an email with directions to select an appointment time. Anyone with questions or needing help registering can call JCCHS at 660-641-3096 or 660-641-3306.

This is a PCR nasal swab used to detect an active COVID-19 virus. All samples are sent to the Missouri State Lab, with results expected within 24 to 48 hours. JCCHS staff will contact all individuals with the results.

Those who receive a COVID-19 test are encouraged to remain isolated until results are received. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that anyone who has a positive COVID-19 result should stay home and isolate for five days. If you have no symptoms or symptoms are resolving after five days, you can leave your house and wear a mask around others for five additional days.
