Posted

WARRENSBURG — The Star-Journal has welcomed a news intern for the summer.

Dillon Seckington will be spending the summer months working in the Star-Journal newsroom as he learns more about community journalism.

“I’m excited for the second year of our internship program at the Star-Journal, and especially that we get to host another journalism student from the University of Central Missouri,” Editor Nicole Cooke said. “I’m looking forward to working with Dillon as he helps our newsroom provide more community content for readers.”

Seckington is helping with community news coverage this summer, writing articles on a variety of topics for the Star-Journal’s print editions and website. He is from Meadville and is a student at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, where he studies digital media production. He has worked for the Muleskinner, UCM’s student newspaper, as a reporter and currently works as the opinion editor. He plans to pursue a career as a journalist and multimedia creator.

“I’m ready to begin working in the Warrensburg community through the Star-Journal,” Seckington said. “I can tell that this community has a lot to offer and it's exciting to take a closer look at what makes Warrensburg unique.”
