WARRENSBURG – Despite the raining cats, dogs, and everything else in between on Friday, April 26, hungry members of the community made the trek to the annual community update breakfast hosted by the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Police Reports - April 30, 2024

Moin U. Mojumder, 25, was arrested on April 1 for leaving the scene of an accident in the 700 block of Charles Street. He was located in the 600 block of Main Street. He was arrested and transported to the Warrensburg Police Department, booked, and released for leaving the scene of an accident.

WARRENSBURG – With opioid overdoses becoming more common in today’s world, the City of Warrensburg and the University of Central Missouri have decided to take action, partnering together to provide Naloxone across the school’s campus.

From Mexico, to Missouri, to Cleveland and New York, eyes turned toward the skies as the path of totality peaked all across North America.

WCE names 2024 Youth Tour and CYCLE delegates

West Central Electric Cooperative announced that three area high school students are preparing to pack their bags for a week in Washington, D.C., following the 2024 Rural Electric Youth Tour finals hosted April 3.

Frederick B. Waitzmann, 65, was arrested on March 25 for trespassing and resisting an officer during an arrest. He was taken to Western Missouri Medical Center at his request and was released to medical staff with two city citations.
Holden man arrested for DWI after accident
Arandon E. McConnell, 20, was arrested on March 19 for shoplifting from a business in the 300 block of East Cooper Boulevard. Asset Protection reported that a known male subject stole $298 worth of merchandise. He was arrested and transported to the Warrensburg Police Department, processed and released.

A word against Christian nationalism

Often in political discussions today, we hear that America is a Christian nation or that America needs to get back to Christianity. Both statements fall under the umbrella of Christian nationalism, which is a cultural framework that advocates for the fusion of a particular interpretation of Christianity and American civic life.

Flower for a day, blooms for weeks

The irises are blooming in April, which has never happened at my place in more than 20 years. Everything is a couple of weeks early this year which means gardeners need to be very observant. If you trim back your spring-blooming shrubs, such as lilac and wiegela, those tasks will happen sooner than in years past. Other late spring and early summer tasks will also need to be adjusted.
