WARSAW – A few miles south of Lincoln, across from the bowling alley in a nondescript white building, a team of workers manufactures 40,000 fishing lures a week.

WCE names 2024 Youth Tour and CYCLE delegates

West Central Electric Cooperative announced that three area high school students are preparing to pack their bags for a week in Washington, D.C., following the 2024 Rural Electric Youth Tour finals hosted April 3.

Pleasant Hill man injured in Highway 50 accident
Frederick B. Waitzmann, 65, was arrested on March 25 for trespassing and resisting an officer during an arrest. He was taken to Western Missouri Medical Center at his request and was released to medical staff with two city citations.
Holden man arrested for DWI after accident
Arandon E. McConnell, 20, was arrested on March 19 for shoplifting from a business in the 300 block of East Cooper Boulevard. Asset Protection reported that a known male subject stole $298 worth of merchandise. He was arrested and transported to the Warrensburg Police Department, processed and released.

Flower for a day, blooms for weeks

The irises are blooming in April, which has never happened at my place in more than 20 years. Everything is a couple of weeks early this year which means gardeners need to be very observant. If you trim back your spring-blooming shrubs, such as lilac and wiegela, those tasks will happen sooner than in years past. Other late spring and early summer tasks will also need to be adjusted.
