Dear Editor,

In my old age I have come to appreciate the fact that most issues have at least two sides and it is indeed a rare person who tries to think about the side they have dismissed. An October 16 issue of this paper published an opinion piece which showed the writer to have a potent case of TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome). The fanatical hubris of many of the comments in the article did show flaws in thinking. What caught my attention was the accusation that Trump really wanted the Islamic fanatics in Iran to destroy some of our coastal cities. Actually Trump was issuing a warning that the regime in Iran is a major threat to us if it succeeds in fabricating a nuclear weapon.

No doubt it is obvious to our homeland security group that it may be logistically easy to attack our coastal cities with a weapon hidden below deck in a small pleasure cruiser. A nuclear weapon the size of a dishwasher could level any city. What a horrible thought! Look at the year 2001. Does it seem unlikely the fanatics in control of Iran would hesitate if they had the means?

It is wise for our newspaper to limit letters of opinion to 250 words. Perhaps it would also be wise to limit all contributors to that same limit. Many people are simply tired of the rhetorical rubbish.

Sincerely,

Clarke Homoly
