"We are excited to continue offering this important program to our community and help ensure local children have access to healthy meals throughout the summer months," said Tony Albertina, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation. "Summer should be a time for kids to stay active, enjoy their break, and create lasting memories, and having access to nutritious meals helps support that goal. We encourage families to take advantage of this free opportunity and help spread the word throughout the community."

The Summer Food Service Program plays an important role in helping bridge the nutrition gap many children experience during summer break and helps ensure youth have access to nutritious meals in a safe and welcoming environment.

The Summer Food Service Program is made possible through a partnership with Warrensburg R-VI School District. Breakfast and lunch meals are prepared and provided by Warrensburg School District nutrition staff, helping ensure children and teens receive quality, nutritious meal options throughout the summer months.

Funding for the Summer Food Service Program is provided through the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, supporting efforts to ensure children and families have access to healthy meals during the summer when school is not in session.
