CMCCU has announced the launch of its annual back-to-school community initiative, titled “CU” Back to School.
The educator appreciation campaign invites community members to nominate their favorite local K-12 teachers for a chance to win one of three $500 cash prizes, kicking off the 2026-2027 academic year.
The nomination window officially opened Aug. 3 and will run through Friday, Aug. 21.
The campaign aims to alleviate the financial burden often faced by educators, who frequently spend their own money on classroom decorations, curriculum aids, and essential student supplies. By awarding $1,500 in direct financial support, CMCCU seeks to recognize the dedication of local teachers and give back to the school districts serving Central Missouri.
"I personally benefited from local educators who worked tirelessly to inspire and shape my future. The same is true today for teachers in our communities who engage today's youth, often going above and beyond what is visible in the classroom," said Joshua Detherage, head of Marketing for CMCCU. "Through the 'CU' Back to School campaign, we want to show our local teachers that we see their hard work, we appreciate their dedication, and we are invested in their success for the 2026-2027 school year."
