A coin flip ruled Karen Mensch as the next Ward 4 City Councilman in the City of Holden, it was announced Friday, April 17.
The April 7 municipal election results led to a tie between Chuck McCullough and Karen Mensch. A recount conducted by County Clerk Diane Thompson’s office was conducted, confirming the tie.
Per Missouri RsMO 115.517, paragraph 4, a coin flip was conducted by the Holden City Clerk.
“After the coin decided to add to the drama of the moment by rolling all over the floor before finally coming to rest; the winner of the tie-breaker (upon verification by both candidates and several witnesses) was Karen Mensch,” the city said in a social media post.
