Fourth of July activities in Warrensburg, Johnson County

With the Fourth of July approaching, Johnson County has a weekend's worth of cost-friendly and firework-filled events for you and your family.

Warrensburg

The Warrensburg Community Band will be hosting a concert at 3 p.m. July 3 at the Missouri Veterans Home, 1300 Veterans RD and 7 p.m. at Grover Park Baptist Church. As always, concerts are free and family-friendly. For more information, visit the Warrensburg Community Band Facebook page.

Central Missouri Speedway will be having their 25th Annual Tom Wilson Memorial Independence Day Weekend races (#11 and #12) on July 4 and 5 at 7 p.m. at Central Missouri Speedway, 11 NE V Hwy. Pits open at 4:30 p.m., Grandstands at 5:00 p.m., Driver Pill Draw Close 6:15 p.m., Pit Meeting 6:30 p.m., Hot Laps 7:00 p.m., Racing at 7:30 p.m.. Weekly Race Divisions: Unsanctioned B-Mods, POWRi Super Stocks, Unsanctioned Pure Stocks, POWRi Midwest Mods. They will not be running B-Mods or Midwest Mods on Friday.

Admission Information: $20 Adult Gen Adm - Seniors 65 to 74 $15, $6 Kids Ages 6 to 12 - Kids 5 and Under Free. FREE: Seniors 75 and Up - Confined to Wheelchair. All Pit Passes are $40 regardless of age. For more information, visit centralmissourispeedway.com.

Warrensburg Main Street will be hosting their 6th annual Patriotic Children's Bike Parade in Downtown Warrensburg on July 5 from 9 to 11 a.m. Decorate your wagons, trikes, bikes, and pets, and come be part of the 4th of July Patriotic Children’s Parade.

From 9 to 10:15 a.m., they will have yard games and a bounce house, with the flag raising at 10:15 and a parade at 10:30! Kids will ride through the Warrensburg Farmers’ Market and the Johnson County Courthouse Square. This is a free event for the whole family to enjoy.

The Warrensburg Farmers’ Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon.

Knob Noster/Whiteman Air Force Base

The 509th Force Support Squadron will host their annual free Independence Celebration: Red, White, and Boom! on Thursday, July 3, at Ike Skelton Lake.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. with fireworks starting at dusk and is open to anyone with base access.

The free activities include a rock wall, bungee pods, a petting zoo, bounce houses, a foam party with a DJ, and giant bubble stations.

For an additional fee, attendees will have access to concessions, a vendor fair, camel rides, a beer garden and photos with a Kangaroo or Wallaby. For more information, call CPPO at 660-687-5754.

Holden

Five Star Lawn and Landscape will host its 4th Annual Ignite the Night Fireworks show at 8 p.m. July 4. Parking is available at Yoss Brothers Grocery Store.

Holden Parks and Recreation will host Spark the Park at 7:30 p.m. July 12 at the City Park. Fireworks begin at dusk. Free sno cones and water starting at 8:30 p.m.

Leeton

The Leeton Red, White & Boom fireworks show starts at 9:30 p.m. July 4 at the Leeton Fairgrounds. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., live music starts at 7 p.m. This event is held in partnership between the Leeton Lions Club, the City of Leeton, the Leeton Park Board and the Leeton Fair Board.
