Grain Valley man charged with child enticement in Johnson County

Posted

A Grain Valley man is facing a felony charge after he exchanged sexually explicit images with a minor under the age of 12.

Aaron David Gwinn, 48, faces a felony charge of enticement or attempted enticement of a child, and a misdemeanor of furnishing pornographic material or attempt to furnish to a minor.

According to court documents, Johnson County Sheriff's deputies  were dispatched to a rural Bates City address on Feb. 2 after a witness located text messages and media containing sexually explicit photographs and videos on the victim’s phone.

The communications between the two included a Jan. 17 conversation, during which a person believed to be Gwinn sent a picture of his face and eight explicit images.

Probable cause indicates that the sender then asked the victim to send specific explicit images and videos through text and at least five voice clips. The victim sent the sender a photo  of their face, as well as explicit images.

A cellular phone log indicated the sender attempted to call the victim on several occasions. The victim replied, instructing the sender not to call them.

Court documents indicate that during an interview with law enforcement on Feb. 4, the victim stated they had been communicating through text with the sender, who identified himself as “Aaron,” while also providing his age and city of residency.”

The victim also indicated they had informed Gwinn that they lived in New Jersey. Gwinn replied, stating, “no you don’t, I’m here.”

A $75,000 cash only warrant was issued for Gwinn’s arrest on Thursday, Feb. 5.
