The Holden Sonic Drive-In was damaged by a fire early Tuesday, Aug. 11.
According to the Holden Fire Department, crews responded to the business at 101. S. Lexington after eyewitnesses reported smoke coming from the building.
Smoke was seen upon arrival, and firefighters determined forced entry was necessary. Upon entering the building, firefighters encountered flames in the kitchen and grill area. At one point, flames were seen from the exterior going through the roof.
With assistance from Johnson Fire Protection District #2 and the Warrensburg Fire Department, the fire was extinguished by approximately 1:15 a.m.
No injuries were reported, according to a social media post from Sonic. The business will be closed for the foreseeable future.
“We know many of you have supported us over the years, and we truly appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support during this difficult time,” the post said. “We will share updates with our community as we know more. We want to give a special thank you to the local fire department for their quick response. Thank you, Holden, for being part of our Sonic family.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Missouri State Fire Marshall’s Office.
