Posted

A Kingsville man is behind bars for alleged sexual abuse that took place between 2013 and 2026.

Donald Lee Newsome, 69, is charged with eight counts of first-degree statutory sodomy, two counts of second-degree statutory sodomy and one count of incest.

According to court documents, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office was alerted of the allegations by a witness on May 20.

The court documents describe alleged abuse of a victim, whose age ranged between 7 years old and approximately 20 years old throughout the multiple instances. Allegations include two situations of sexual abuse in 2013, one in 2014, one in 2015, one in 2016, one in 2017, two in 2018, one in 2021, one in 2022 and one in 2026.

Court documents say the witness confronted the defendant twice since the victim disclosed the allegations.

The second phone call was recorded and observed by law enforcement.

Court documents say during the conversation, the defendant admitted to the alleged cases of sexual abuse that occurred since the victim was 14. He denied the alleged acts that occurred before then.

He stated he could not recall how many times the abuse took place, but admitted the last case took place in January 2026.

Newsome is being held without bond at the Johnson County Jail.
