Reminders for the Aug. 5 Special Election

Residents within the Knob Noster R-VIII School District and Oak Grove R-VI School District will vote on bond issues Aug. 5. 

Knob Noster R-VII School District Question (Proposition KNP)

Shall the Board of Education of Knob Noster R-VIII School District of Johnson County, Missouri, be authorized to increase the operating tax levy ceiling to $3.80 per $100 of assessed valuation according to the 2025 assessment for the purpose of constructing specific academic and athletic components including Agriculture, Manufacturing, and Building Trades, Wrestling Facility, Youth Sports Facilities, Running Track, Football Field, and Stadium, to be included with the new Knob Noster High School which is currently under construction? If this question is approved, the operating tax levy of the District is estimated to increase by $0.30 per $100 of assessed valuation.

Oak Grove R-VI Question

“Shall the Oak Grove R-VI School District of Jackson County, Missouri, be authorized to increase the operating tax levy ceiling to $3.6061 per $100 of assessed valuation in tax year 2025 for general operating expenses of the District, including without limitation: increasing compensation to attract and retain quality teachers and staff, enhancing district technology and STEAM programs, and improving school safety. If this question is approved, the operating tax levy of the District is estimated to increase by $0.70 per $100 of assessed valuation, and the District expects to make a corresponding reduction to its debt service tax levy of $0.70 per $100 of assessed valuation. Approval of this question would result in the estimated overall tax levy of the District remaining unchanged.”

Voting Locations

Residents in the Knob Noster R-VIII School District will vote inside the Knob Noster High School Gymnasium. 

Residents in the Oak Grove R-VI School District will vote at the Mid-Continent Public Library Oak Grove Branch located at 2320 S. Broadway. Johnson County has contracted out polling to Jackson County fo this race. 

Precinct Hours: 6 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Reminders

Bring Voter Registration Card and Driver's License.

It is illegal to wear election related clothing, buttons or stickers while voting.

Electioneering is illegal within 25 feet of a polling location.
