University of Central Missouri student dies at off-campus residence

WPD investigating death as possible overdose

WARRENSBURG — The death of a University of Central Missouri student is under investigation by the Warrensburg Police Department. 

According to a post from the university, Bailey Throssell, a senior from Overland Park, Kansas, majoring in Sports Management, died at his off-campus residence Friday, Aug. 28. 

“We extend our deepest sympathies to Bailey’s family, friends, classmates and all those affected by this loss,” the statement said. “The Warrensburg Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.”

WPD responded to the 900 block of South Holden Street for a possible cardiac arrest at 1:55 p.m. Friday. Officers located an unresponsive male, later identified as Throssell, in his bedroom. He was pronounced dead at the scene of a suspected overdose. 

The University said counseling and services are available to its students and staff who may need assistance.
