The Warrensburg Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) met Friday, Sept. 11, at The Raging Bull Restaurant.
Virginia Campbell, Constitution Week Chair introduced Warrensburg Mayor Bruce Uhler who read a petition establishing Sept. 17-23 as Constitution Week. A display about the Constitution will be set up at Trails Regional Library soon and will be viewable for two weeks. A minute of silence was observed in remembrance of all the 9/11 victims and their families.
Regent Jayne Barry displayed two awards presented at the recent District meeting, one for Service to America and one for Chapter Achievement for Chapters with 50 members or less.
Amy Jensen presented the program with information about the Federalist Papers. The Federalist Papers were written between October 1787 and August 1788 to persuade New York voters to support the newly proposed Constitution of the United States, replacing the Articles of Confederation, which many considered ineffective. The essays aimed to explain the principles of the Constitution, defend the proposed federal system, and address concerns raised by opponents, known as the Anti-Federalists, who feared a strong central government.
The chapter voted to add two medal awards to outstanding cadets in each of two EMT classes each year.
