A Warrensburg man is facing charges after allegedly fleeing from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, June 28.

Auja L. Rogers is charged with a felony of aggravated fleeing a stop. He also faces misdemeanors of operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner, exceeding the posted speed limit by 26 miles per hour or more, and passing a vehicle on the right off the highway.

According to court documents, deputies responded to the 1900 block of U.S. Highway 50 on reports of a driving complaint on June 28.

Soon after, a deputy observed an eastbound vehicle pass him at 119 miles per hour.  A second deputy observed the suspect vehicle before turning on their patrol car’s emergency lights.  A pursuit ensued, with speeds reaching approximately 120 miles per hour.

Court documents state that during the pursuit, a deputy observed the suspect vehicle change lanes four times without using a turn signal and pass another vehicle on the right shoulder after the vehicle left the roadway.

When the deputy closed the distance, the suspect activated their hazard lights and pulled to the right side of the roadway. The driver, identified as Rogers, was given commands to exit the vehicle and was taken into custody.

Rogers is being held at the Johnson County Jail on a $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to make his initial appearance on Wednesday, July 1.
