A Winter Storm Watch is scheduled to go into effect for Johnson County at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11 and last until 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12.
According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches are possible. Wind chills could be as cold as -10 degrees Fahrenheit.
The forecast for Warrensburg states snow is likely late Tuesday, with the primary impact beginning before midnight. The precipitation is expected to continue into late Wednesday.
Wednesday’s high is forecasted to be near 24 degrees Fahrenheit, wind gusts as high as 18 mph. The low is slated to be near 5 degrees Fahrenheit.
The National Weather Service states travel could be difficult Wednesday.
A Winter Storm Warning has been issued to the immediate north and northwest of Warrensburg, with the counties effected including Lafayette County, and Jackson County.
In Missouri, the storm is expected to impact the entirety of the Kansas City metropolitan area, along with Sedalia, Columbia and Jefferson City.
Johnson County is expected to be on the southern impact of the storm. The watch also includes Pettis, Cass and Henry counties.
