Serious injuries reported in July 1 wreck

Serious injuries were reported in a single-vehicle wreck on July 1 on Highway PP.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred when a westbound 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Clifford C. Cooper, 71, traveled off the right side of the road and overturned.

Cooper is reported to have serious injuries and was taken by Life Flight to University Hospital in Columbia.

Man arrested after three injured in wreck

Serious injuries were reported in a three-vehicle wreck on July 1 on state Route 58.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred when a 2009 Nissan Murano driven by Robert F. O’Malley, 30, of Kingsville, crossed the center line and was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane. A 2011 Toyota Sienna driven by David A. Gafford, 33, of Harrisonville, was traveling westbound and crossed the center line to avoid the Nissan but was struck head-on. The Toyota was then struck head-on by a 1997 Chevrolet S10 driven by a 17-year-old male of Holden.

Gafford is reported to have serious injuries and was transported to Research Medical Center in Kansas City by the Johnson County Ambulance District.

A passenger in Gafford’s vehicle, Jordan L. Gafford-Linville, 32, of Harrisonville, is reported to have minor injuries and was treated on the scene.

O’Malley is reported to have moderate injuries and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center by JCAD.

O’Malley was arrested for driving while intoxicated-drugs with serious physical injury, careless driving involving a crash, and no insurance.

The MSHP was assisted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the JCAD and Johnson County Fire.

Motorcycle involved in July 4 wreck

Minor and moderate injuries were reported in a two-vehicle wreck on July 4 on Highway 50.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred when a 2004 Harley-Davidson driven by Mark R. Sager, 46, of Overland Park, Kansas, slowed to make a left turn and was struck by a 2011 Jeep Cherokee driven by April A. Wagner, 52, of Lone Jack.

Sager’s passenger, Melissa A. Sager, 43, of Overland Park, Kansas, is reported to have moderate injuries and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center by JCAD.
