Minor injuries, arrest reported in July 3 wreck 

One person is reported to have minor injuries from a single-vehicle wreck July 3 on Highway 50 at Highway 131. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred when a 2015 Harley-Davidson, driven by Kenneth J. Hays, 41, of Kansas City, traveled off the left side of the roadway. 

Hays is reported to have minor injuries and sought his own treatment. Hays is reported to have not worn a safety device. 

Hays was later arrested on a Belton Police Department warrant, a Grandview Police Department warrant and charges of tampering with a motor vehicle and driving while suspended. 

The Harley-Davidson is reported to have minor damage.

Serious injuries reported in July 5 wreck

One person is reported to have serious injuries from a single-vehicle wreck on July 5, 2022, on Eastbound U.S. Highway 50 at state Route 58.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the wreck occurred when a 1983 Yamaha, driven by James L. McKinney, 39, of Warrensburg, lost control on uneven lanes.

McKinney is reported to have serious injuries and was transported to Research Medical Center in Kansas City by Johnson County Ambulance District. 

McKinney is reported to not have worn a safety device. 

The Yamaha is reported to have moderate damage. 

The MSHP was assisted by Johnson County Fire.
