One person is reported to have moderate injuries from a two-vehicle wreck June 22 on westbound Highway 50 east of Highway 131.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred when a 1995 Honda Civic, driven by David M. Carrender, 52, of Sweet Springs, ran off the left side of the roadway and a 2003 Ford Taurus, driven by Melissa T. Collins, 46, of Holden, overcorrected which caused the Honda to run off the right side of the road, striking a rock wall, returned to the road and came to a rest. The Ford swerved to avoid the Honda and ran off the right side of the road.
Collins is reported to have moderate injuries and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center.
Carrender and Collins are each reported to have worn a safety device.
The Ford is reported to have minor damage. The Honda is reported to be a total loss.
MSHP was assisted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
