Turner R. George, 18, of Warrensburg was killed, a 17-year-old male from Chilhowee suffered minor injuries, Wiley M. Grand, 18, of Chilhowee suffered minor injuries, and Timothy N. Toole, 19, of Centerview suffered minor injuries at 8:54 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, in a Johnson County accident.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, George was driving a 2004 Dodge truck south on SW 271st RD and lost control when accelerating through a curve, left the roadway, struck a ditch, overturned and struck a fence.
George was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Noah Harness and was transported to the Johnson County Coroner's Office. The other occupants refused treatment at the scene. The only person wearing a seat belt was the 17-year-old.
Ray A. Yowell, 35, from Shawnee, Kansas suffered minor injuries at 11:24 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, in a Johnson County accident.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Yowell was driving a 2018 Ford Truck west on U.S. Highway 50 when he traveled off the roadway and struck a ditch.
It is unknown if Yowell was wearing a seat belt, he was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg by Johnson County Ambulance District.
