Two hurt after swerving to avoid deer

A driver and occupant suffered minor injuries in a Johnson County accident on Saturday, Oct. 19.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Brenden A. Smith, 23, Kingsville, was driving a 2017 Ford F-150 south on Route AA west of NW 200th Road when it swerved to avoid striking a deer. The vehicle traveled off to the left side of the road and struck a utility pole.

Smith and passenger Tucker A. Sauceda, 24, Pleasant Hill, were both wearing seat belts. They refused medical treatment at the scene.

One hurt after vehicle overturns

A Warrensburg woman suffered moderate injuries in a Johnson County accident on Saturday Oct. 19.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a Kelly R. Smith was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Aveo eastbound on U.S. Highway 50 at Route M when it ran off the roadway and overturned.

Smith, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported by the Johnson County Ambulance District to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.

One airlifted, two others hurt after UTV accident

A Lee’s Summit man was airlifted with serious injuries following an off road Johnson County accident on Saturday, Oct. 19.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Benjamin Holcomb, 36, of Lee’s Summit was driving a 2023 Polaris RZR 1000 westbound in a field near 1901 SW 700 Road when i a 2023 Polaris RZR 1000 driven by Benjamin Holcomb, 36, of Lee’s Summit, was traveling westbound in a field at 1901 SW 700 Road when it hit a bump. Holcomb lost control before the UTV overturned.

Holcomb was not wearing a safety device. He was transportred to Research Medical Center in Kansas City by Life Flight.

Occupants Veronica Waller, 37, of Holden and Hannah Byers, 34, of Lee’s Summit both suffered minor injuries. They were treated on scene and released.
