A Johnson County man was arrested Sunday, Jan. 11, after the Pettis County Sheriff's Office responded to a burglary in progress in the 400 block of SE 521st RD.
According to a Facebook post by agency, deputies were dispatched to the residence at 3:48 p.m
When they arrived on the scene, Kevin Payne attempted to flee the residence on foot. After establishing a perimeter, the deputies found Payne hiding in a large brush pile and deployed a taser when he tried to flee for a second time. Payne was taken into custody after that.
Along with attempted burglary and resisting arrest, the Facebook post shared that Payne was arrested on active failure-to-appear warrants in Johnson County that include burglary, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.
