Pedestrian hit at University of Central Missouri

A 21-year-old female pedestrian from Kansas City was seriously injured after being struck Sunday, Aug. 16, on the University of Central Missouri campus.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, she was crossing West South Street east of South Washington Street at approximately 6:57 p.m. when she was hit by a 2020 Dodge Charger driven westbound by a 21-year-old male from Warrensburg.

The pedestrian was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center by the Johnson County Ambulance District

Chilhowee woman seriously hurt in Johnson County

A 31-year-old woman from Chilhowee was seriously hurt in a single-vehicle accident at 8:03 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, she was driving a 2010 Ford Fusion northbound on Route F north of Southwest 725 Road at approximately 8:03 p.m. when she travelled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, crossed the center of the roadway and traveled off the right side of the roadway again, resulting in the vehicle overcorrecting and striking a pole.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was transported by the Johnson County Ambulance District to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.
